ABOUT US
Well, that's what some fathers did this year at their children's school. And we, sincerely, hope to encourage you to do the same.
In the Summer of 2008 God birthed an idea, and three father’s faithfulness in listening to God’s leading turned into an amazing school year for not just them, but their kids, the teachers, the administration, and so many other families. Clearly, God had a plan and did exceedingly more than any of those three men could have possibly imagined.
So, what happened?
That Summer, three father's heard God's challenge to begin praying at their children's school (Westminster Christian School in the Elementary Campus. The idea was inspired by God through the terrifically powerful movie Facing the Giants.
They began at the start of the school year, not really having a clue as to what would happen, or how to begin. But they gathered faithfully nearly every Friday at school, after dropping their kids off. And get this, they prayed!
These fathers began with modest plans, and were quickly joined by another father. They started out walking the campus praying - a good old fashioned prayer walk. They prayed for the children, the teachers, the classrooms, the playground, the parking lot, the pickup lines, the bathrooms, the water fountains. You name it, they prayed for it. At first, no one knew what they were up to, except the principal (whom they spoke with at the start of this journey). Before long, teachers began to ask who they were. Let's be clear, though, they were simply humbled men, seeking to find God at their children's school. Of course, they were certainly grateful that teachers were concerned enough to ask…(levity intended).
But as these fathers showed their commitment and faithfulness, the group slowly grew. The teachers even began to approach them with prayer requests. And then something entirely unexpected and amazing happened – they were invited to “jump-in” and pray with one teacher’s class. To their astonishment, that experience transformed their outlook on prayer, and their calling at the school. To say they hungered for more prayer time with the children was an understatement!
